The Colby Community College wrestling team competed at the Worthington Open on Saturday, Jan. 19. The squad took only five wrestlers to the competition due to illness. Neither Cole Garcia or Lyubomir Kumbarov traveled with the team.
T.J. Hepburn finished first at 149 pounds, winning his first three matches by fall and winning in the championship by a technical fall. For his efforts, Hepburn was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Wrestler.
Chris Kearn finished first at 184 pounds, winning his first match by technical fall, then winning the next two by fall. Akmal Adilov finished 4-1 and in third place at 125 pounds, Danny Manius finished 1-2 and 4th at 133 pounds, and Delanno Palmore finished 1-2 at 165 pounds.
Palmore also was affected by illness, but still was able to compete, just not at full strength.
