Men's basketball drops second straight game

Sunday, Jan. 13
Colby men fall to Butler County

After falling behind 24-2 to start the game on Sunday, the Colby Community College men's basketball team (5-12, 2-2) slowly clawed its way back into the game. Even without their top two leading scorers, Koance Davis and Mike Boyd, the Trojans cut the deficit down to nine at halftime.

After another slow start to the second half, the Trojans cut the lead down to four points with seven minutes remaining. However, they were not able to get over the hump and lost 83-72.

Andrew Engel led the Trojans with 24 points on 10-of-21 shooting from the field. Jordon Ottoway finished with 20 points and hit four three-pointers. The Trojans once again got solid contributions from Tashaun Kelly, who had 7 points and 10 assists. Freshman Anthony Rohr came off the bench to lead the Trojans with 11 rebounds. Erick Pegeuro added 12 points and 5 rebounds.

The men's team learned that Mike Boyd will miss the Trojan's next game and Koance Davis will miss Wednesday's game and next Sunday's game for their roles in an altercation last Wednesday at Dodge City.
