The Colby Community College baseball team hosts Hastings JV today at 1 p.m at the CCC baseball diamond. This weekend, the Trojans host Jayhawk West foe Butler County for a doubleheader on Saturday and Sunday. The Trojans begin at 1 p.m. both days.
The Trojans are currently 13-11 overall and 8-4 in the conference. The 8-4 mark puts them in fourth place behind Seward County (9-3), Hutchinson (11-5) and Barton County (11-5). The Trojans are coming off a weekend split with Cloud County. In the two losses, the Trojans allowed Cloud to score in the bottom of the seventh.
Aaron Dunsmore leads the team with a .415 average, 12 doubles and is tied with Scott Hornstra for the team lead with 4 home runs. Hornstra is batting .378 and has 22 runs batted in, while Dunsmore has 21 RBIs. Third baseman Steve Kletke contributes a .381 average with 17 RBIs and a recent hot streak has outfielder Brennan Peterson hitting .377.
Hornstra also leads the way on the mound for the Trojans, posting a 3-0 record with a 1.78 earned run average. Sean Lydon has logged the most innings for the Trojans with 28, and has a 2-3 record with a 3.75 ERA. Josh Edwards is 2-1 with a 2.76 ERA and Mark Phillips, after struggling early, has rebounded for a 2-1 record in 7 appearances and a 5.12 ERA.
