After trailing by seven points at halftime, the Colby Community College Lady Trojans outscored Garden City by 20 points in the second half, finishing with a 73-60 victory Saturday at Garden City.
The victory moves the Lady Trojans record to 9-14 overall, 4-5 in the West Division of the Jayhawk Conference. The Lady Trojans had four players in double figures, led by Sandra Sormaz with 22 points. Sormaz was 8-of-17 from the field, and 4-of-9 from three-point range.
Whitney Archer had 13 points, Lauren Fortin added 12 points and Katie Spresser had 10points and 9 rebounds. Also with solid contributions were Nikki Welsh (6 points, 9 rebounds) and Samantha Ciani (6 points, 7 rebounds).The Lady Trojans outrebounded Garden City 48-28 in the game and held Garden City to 31% shooting in the second half.
The Lady Trojans currently sit fifth in the Jayhawk West standings at 4-5. Ahead of them are Cloud (8-1), Hutchinson (7-1), Barton (7-2) and Seward (7-2). Following the Trojans are Garden City (3-6), Pratt (3-6), Butler (1-8) and Dodge City (0-9).
