The Colby Community College baseball team lost both ends of a doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 23 to Howard College of Big Spring, Texas. Howard CC, a ranked and undefeated team, defeated the Trojans 17-7 and 19-4.
The Trojans committed 8 errors in the game, which allowed six unearned runs to score. Sean Lydon picked up the loss for the Trojans. Trojans second baseman Scott Hornstra was 3-for-3 with a homerun, double, walk and 2 RBI. Dan Turre was 3-for-4 with a double and 3 RBI, while Steve Kletke also collected a three hit game, going 3-for-4 with 1 RBI.
In game two, Howards offense remained hot, pounding out 16 hits, collecting 9 walks, and scoring 19 runs in the victory. Scott Hornstra hit his second home run of the day for the Trojans. Garrett Stone also homered in the loss.
