Trojan men overmatched against conference frontrunner

The Colby Community College men's basketball team went into Wednesday's contest down three players and facing the No. 1 team in the Jayhawk West. Earlier in the season, with its full compliment of players, Hutch barely edged Colby 94-90.

However, this time was different. Hutch jumped out to a big lead early and cruised to a 100-58 victory over Colby (7-21, 3-11). The Trojans had two players in double-figures led by Erik Pegeuro with 16 points. Pegeuro also pulled down 6 rebounds.

Everson Lacerda had 13 points and 6 rebounds. Tashaun Kelly added 7 points and 9 assists. The Trojans struggled once again without its top two guards, committing 30 turnovers and were unable to stop one of the premiere offensive teams in the conference.

The Trojans have two remaining home games, Wednesday, Feb. 27 against Barton and Saturday, March 1 against Seward.
