Men's Basketball drops game against Barton

Wednesday, February 27

The CCC men's basketball team welcomed back point-guard Andrew Engel Wednesday night, but his services weren't enough to lift the Trojans to victory. Barton County handed the Trojans a 86-70 loss at the Community Building. Barton built a 21 halftime lead, shooting over 60 percent from the field in the first half. The Trojans narrowed the lead to 13 points several times in the second-half, but they couldn't creep any closer.

Both Everson Lacerda and Erick Peguero played tremendous for the Trojans. Lacerda had a season-high 26 points on 11-of-14 shooting from the floor, and also pulled down 11 rebounds. Pegeuro nearly had a triple-double, finishing with 21 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists.

Tashaun Kelly and Jordon Ottoway each added 10 points for the Trojans. Engel didn't score, attempted only 4 field goals and hobbled around on a less than 100 percent ankle, but his ball-handling enabled the Trojans to be more efficient offensively.
